7-9 year olds
This term we will be learning all about the Stone Age. In this topic children will develop their understanding of how archaeologists, historians and scientists can piece together information from the time prior to written records. This will enable children to understand how our species developed over time.
In science, we will learn about rocks and soils. We will look at the different types of rock that make up our planet and how these can change over time. We will also learn about how fossils are formed.
In English, we are continuing to place a heavy emphasis on reading. This includes reading for pleasure, developing vocabulary during whole class story time and practising reading fluency. Writing continues to focus on developing and enhancing sentence structure so that writing is clear and engaging for a reader.
In Maths, we are working hard to learn our times tables off by heart so that we have these facts at our fingertips when we are solving more complex mathematical problems. This term we will continue to practise our 3s, 6s, 4s and 8s and we will begin to learn our 7s and 9s. Please continue to practise regularly at home.
